Chinese Swimming Officals Vow to Crackdown on Drugs

Chinese Swimming Association officials have said they will be intensifying there efforts to crackdown on drug cheating by conducting more tests on there swimmers.

They have said that they would increase the number of drug tests this year to 600 and that they would impose stiffer penalties including lifetime bans on steroid cheats.

These announcements came as hundreds of swimmers were competing in the Chinese National Championships.

The Chinese were embarassed by drug scandals earlier this year at the World Championships in Perth, when four swimmers were caught using masking agents and another swimmer and her coach were caught at the airport trying to smuggle human growth hormones into the country.
