Day 1 Two American Records and 3 National Age Group Records were broken tonight at North Baltimore Aquatic Clubs 34th annual Christmas Invitational.

Katie Hoff set a new American Record in the 1,000 yard Freestyle with a time of 9:10.77. The previous record of 9:21.57 was held by Kate Zeigler. Katie also set an American Record in the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:53.77. The previous record of 1:53.91 was held by Maggie Bowen.

Liz Pelton added a new National Age Group Record in the 100 yard Backstroke leading off the NBAC 13-14 Girls 400 yard Medley Relay with a time of 54.35.

Jordan Surhoff also broke the NBAC Team record in the 50 Breaststroke twice! She did a 31.32 in prelims and then lowered her record to 32.08 at finals. The previous record of 31.37 was held by Jennifer Wood from 1991.

The NBAC Open Girls 400 Medley Relay of Courtney Kalisz, Katie Hoff, Felicia Lee, and Laura Harris set the Team and State record with a swim of 3:43.21. The previous record was set at this meet one year ago with a time of 3:46.44.

The NBAC Open Boys 400 Medley Relay of Greg Pelton, Richard Hills, Dan Madwed, and Austin Surhoff set the 17-18 Team and State record with a swim of 3:22.56. The previous Team Record and Resident Area Record (3:29.27) was set in 1985 and the previous Area State Record (3:34.76) was set in 1979!

Day 2 Two more American Records and 6 National Age Group Records were broken on day two at the NBAC Christmas Invitational.

Katie Hoff set a new American Record in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:00.66. This previous record of 4:02.28 was held by Summer Sanders, set in 1992. Katie also set an American Record in the 500 yard Freestyle with a time of 4:30.47. The previous record of 4:33.35 was held by Kate Ziegler.

The NBAC 15-18 Girls relay of Katie Hoff, Felicia Lee, Jessie Krebs, and Andi Staub broke the National Age Group record in the 800 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:14.45. Katie?s 200 Free split of 1:43.10 was also a 17-18 National Age Group Record.

Liz Pelton also added her second National Age Group record of the meet with a 54.08 in the 13-14100 yard Backstroke in prelims. This took .27 off the record that she set on Day 1. Liz also added a new Team and State record in the 50 Free with a time of 23.21 at Finals.

The NBAC 17-18 Boys relay of Dan Madwed, Richard Hills, Brennan Morris, and Austin Surhoff broke the National Age Group Record in the 800 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:38.57.

Jordan Surhoff broke her 3rd Team Record of the meet with a 1:07.00 100 Breaststroke at finals this evening.\

Day 2 Total: American Records: 2 US Open Records: 2 National Age Group Records: 6 State Records: 11 Team Records: 12

Day 3 11 more NBAC Team and State Records were set on the Final Day of the NBAC Christmas Invitational.

Liz Pelton set Team and State records in the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Backstroke. Her 200 Backstroke time of 1:56.37 broke the previous Team and State record of 1:56.75 held by NBAC?s Courtney Kalisz. Her prelim 100 Freestyle of 50.43 broke Katie Hoffs previous Team and State record of 50.49 which was set in 2003. NBAC?s Natalie Beale added a 50.43 in winning the event at finals which was also lower than the previous record!

Katie Hoff ended up setting 7 Individual State and Team records on Day 3 in addition to her relay team efforts. She set the Team and State records in the 100 Freestyle on her relay lead off with a time of 48.82, breaking the former record of 49.35 held by NBAC?s Michelle King. She also added Team and State records for 17-18 and Open in the 200 Backstroke in prelims AND finals with times of 1:53.37 in prelims and then a 1:51.98 in finals. In Katie?s final individual event of the meet she set Team and State records for 17-18 and Open in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:54.53.

Both the NBAC Girls and Boys 400 Freestyle Relays added Team and State Records on Day 3 as well. The Girls team (3:23.80): Katie Hoff, Felicia Lee, Andi Staub, and Laura Harris. The Boys team (3:04.50): Dan Madwed, Richard Hills, Greg Pelton, and Austin Surhoff.
