Over the Uppsala Grand Prix in Sweden, Stefan Nystrand clocked 48.73 and 48.95 in 100m free heats and finals respectively in a field that provided no real test for the sub 48-sec man. A young Brit team was there for the experience, Ben Hockin taking second in 50.32, after a heats effort of 50.25.

Josefin Lillhage claimed the 200m freestyle in 1:59.45, and Hanna Westrin's 1:08.98 was at the helm in the 100m breaststroke, ahead of Joline Höstman's 1:09.17, with Austrian Mirna Jukic on 1:09.77.

Britain's Matt Clay took the 100m backstroke in 56.16, ahead ofSimon Sjödin, in a Swedish record of 56.37. Clay also finished second in the 50m butterfly behind teammate Ben Hockin, 24.37 to 24.49, with another GBR teammate, Matt Bowe, following through on 24.60.

The European Championships start in Eindhoven next week, and the British Olympic trials will take place in the first week in April.
